Terms, Conditions & Procedures

By engaging the services of Mix Artist Studio, the client acknowledges and agrees to abide by the following terms, conditions and procedures.

Conditions of Entry

Mix Artist Studio is located on an alcohol-free and smoke-free property. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this policy at all times.

Booking & Payment Terms

Recording Studio Sessions

The studio is available for full-day and half-day bookings.

  • A full day is defined as 8 hours (9:00am – 5:00pm).
  • A half day is defined as 4 hours (9:00am – 1:00pm or 1:00pm – 5:00pm).
  • Sessions may be booked with a house engineer or as dry hire (bring your own engineer).

To secure a booking, a deposit or full payment is required.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the remaining balance for recording sessions is due on the first day of production.

Mixing Projects

A 50% upfront deposit is required before mixing commences.

Mixing begins once:

  • all required files have been received; and
  • the deposit payment has been received.

The remaining balance is due either:

  • within 14 days of delivery of the first mix; or
  • upon mix approval,

whichever occurs first.

Final mix files will be made available for download immediately after final payment has been received.

Payment of the final balance constitutes approval of the completed mix and concludes the project.

Rescheduling & Cancellations

If you are unable to attend a studio session or need to postpone a project, please notify us as soon as possible via email or phone.

Where possible, we will arrange a new booking at the next available date.

For recording sessions:

  • Rescheduling within 48 hours of the booking may incur a $100 rescheduling fee.
  • Cancellations are subject to a $100 cancellation fee to cover administration, handling and transfer costs.

For mixing projects:

  • The 50% deposit remains fully refundable until work has commenced.
  • Once work has commenced, the deposit becomes non-refundable as it covers time already invested in project preparation, file management and mixing work undertaken.

Communication

Good communication is one of the most important ingredients in a successful project.

Email is the preferred method of communication and we aim to respond to messages within 24 hours during business days. Weekend responses are generally reserved for urgent matters.

For bands and group projects, we strongly recommend nominating a single representative for all communication and feedback. Consolidated feedback helps avoid conflicting requests and significantly improves workflow efficiency.

Video-chat consultations can also be arranged where appropriate.

Feedback is most useful when it is constructive, specific and includes descriptions or examples of the desired outcome.

Turnaround Times

Typical turnaround times are:

  • Single: approximately 5–6 business days
  • EP: approximately 1 week
  • Album: approximately 14 days

These timeframes are estimates only and may vary depending on project complexity and studio workload.

Priority turnaround options may be available at additional cost.

Obligations of Means vs Obligations of Result

Mix Artist Studio provides an obligation of means rather than an obligation of result.

This means we undertake to provide:

  • professional facilities;
  • functioning equipment;
  • competent technical services; and
  • recordings and mixes free from avoidable technical faults such as excessive noise or distortion.

However, the final artistic outcome of a project depends on many factors outside the studio's control, including performance quality, arrangement, preparation, source material, creative direction and subjective personal taste.

Accordingly, Mix Artist Studio cannot guarantee:

  • that a project will be completed within a specific timeframe;
  • that the creative outcome will meet every subjective expectation; or
  • that artistic satisfaction can be guaranteed.

Intellectual Property

Ownership of recordings and mixes transfers to the client upon full payment of all outstanding invoices.

Mix Artist Studio retains the right to use excerpts of recordings, mixes or associated materials for promotional purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Refund Policy

In the unlikely event of a technical failure that prevents a session or project from proceeding, Mix Artist Studio will offer replacement studio time or reasonable corrective action at the next available opportunity.

If a replacement session cannot be provided within 100 days, the client may request a full refund for the affected services.

Mix Artist Studio cannot be held liable for consequential losses, missed opportunities or damages arising from delays, interruptions or technical failures.

Refunds are not available for subjective, aesthetic or creative disagreements. Artistic satisfaction is inherently subjective and cannot be guaranteed.
